Paul Merrick, Head of Engineering, and Craig Thompson, Head of Marketing at UK-based Anaesthetic Machine manufacturer Penlon, along with their colleague from Medcaptain, accompanied Director Xu Guoting of the Department of Surgery; Cao Xihua, Head Nurse; Deputy Director Wang Miaoqiu; and Jin Nannan, Head Nurse of the Day Surgery Department, as they visited the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at Nanyang Medical College Affiliated Hospital.
Director Xu Guoting of the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine began by delivering a welcome speech before highlighting that the Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine is the key discipline of the hospital and the key cultivating discipline of Henan Province. Director Xu, the Chairman of the Anesthesiology Society of Nanyang Medical Association, the Quality Control Center of Anesthesiology in Nanyang City, and the Quality Control Center of Pain in Nanyang City has always adhered to the idea that people-oriented services provide patients with safe perioperative medical care.
In 2003 the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine was the first to introduce the Penlon brand in Nanyang. Recently, Chinese-owned Medcaptain acquired the British brand, a well-known and respected brand in the anaesthesia industry, a good reflection of the development and growth of Chinese domestic enterprise.
Craig Thompson, Penlon’s Head of Marketing, shared a presentation on Anesthetic Machines and the History of Anesthesia Development. When talking about the Penlon Prima SP2 anaesthesia machine, Director Xu pointed out that a Prima SP2 in use in the hospital and endorsed the quality of the anaesthetic machine.
After the presentation, clinicians, including Wang Miaoqiu and Chen Xiaolin from the Anaesthesia Department, conducted an in-depth discussion and exchange of ideas with the visitors on issues related to anaesthetic machines.
After the discussions had concluded, Director Xu introduced the rest of the department, personnel structure, honours and advanced deeds to the visitors, allowing them to view the overall layout of the department and the Penlon anesthetic machine used there. The department layout, neat and clean environment, and advanced equipment impressed the visitors.
The visitors agreed, under the leadership of Director Xu, the anesthetic machine used in the department is well-maintained, performs well, has been in use for a long time and is still as good as new.
After the visit, the team had a professional exchange with Section Chief Liu Aiyun, Director Xu Guoting, and Head Nurse Cao Xihua in the doctor’s office. Through academic sharing and on-site visits, the visitors spoke highly of the work of the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine, fully affirmed Director Xu’s anesthesia work, and happily expressed that if they needed surgery in the future, they would come to Director Xu personally to be anesthetised!
Section Chief Liu of the Department of Science and Education was keen to announce that Zhang Zhongjing National Medical University in Nanyang is undergoing reconstruction. The hospital will become a directly affiliated hospital, and medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research will all be further improved, and in the future academic exchanges will be further strengthened to promote Industry/University/Research synchronous development.
