Job description
As a production planner, you have the responsibility of ensuring that the products made by our company are produced efficiently and of the right quality, ready for delivery to our customers. You must calculate the best way to use resources, such as materials and staff, keeping the production schedule up to date. As a planner, you decide what materials are required for production and load accordingly to meet delivery demands.
Main Tasks
- Organise day-to-day planning requirements
- Create production schedules using the Sales forecast
- Release production orders on time
- Decide what materials will be required by using SAP/BYD.
- Take into consideration the effect the new schedule will have on existing work and make sure not to overextend production when dating orders for the sales department and service areas.
- Chase overdue parts from purchasing when needed.
- Administrate technical details on new and old products when drawings and updates from the technical department are completed using the ‘CR’ system.
- Update and maintain a computerised production schedule and detail all the tasks that need to be done, state when they must be completed and ensure that the goods are ready on time.
- Responsible for Quality Assurance activity to independently release product under final approval processes.
