You are here: Home News April 2020 Penlon Anaesthetic Machines in NHS Nightingale Hospital, London 09.04.2020 Penlon Anaesthetic Machines in NHS Nightingale Hospital, London NHS Nightingale Hospital London opens with 85 Penlon Anaesthetic Machines and a further 55 machines being delivered to other London hospitals. A further 20 will be delivered this week. These Penlon anaesthetic machines with ventilators, including the Prima 320, Prima 320 Advance, Prima 450 with AV-S and Prima 465 will be used to treat patients from the London area suffering from COVID-19. Engineers from Penlon, assisted by volunteers from Spacelabs Healthcare Ltd, worked tirelessly to install all the anaesthetic machines and ventilators before the hospital opened on 3rd April. Michael Pugsley, Penlon Training Manager, commented, “The team have been genuinely outstanding, no complaints or problems, regardless of the challenges they face or how tired they are.” The NHS Nightingale Hospital in London, at the ExCeL Centre, has been built to care for patients suffering from COVID-19. The Excel exhibition centre was transformed into a unit capable of treating 4,000 critically ill people in the space of nine days. The first patients arrived on Tuesday 7th April. Other NHS Nightingale hospitals will follow across England including facilities in the north, midlands and south.
