Penlon
has won a Queens Award for Enterprise: Innovation
Category for the Sigma Delta Vaporizer.
A
Queens Award is recognised as the highest honour
that can be bestowed upon a UK business, and to receive
one is to be acknowledged as being the best in your
field.
The criteria for the Innovation Category includes outstanding
innovation resulting in substantial improvement in business
performance, sustained over a minimum of two years.
The award for Delta reflects the unique design and construction
of the vaporizer, which gives greatly enhanced responsiveness
to changes in gas flow during clinical procedures.
This translates into a product with outstanding performance
over the widest range of vapour concentration and temperatures,
particularly at low flows. In addition, low body weight,
ease of use and a maintenance free system provide improved
user efficiency.
Commercially, the vaporizer has been an outstanding
success since its introduction in March 2000, with total
sales approaching £10 million worldwide, including
over £2.5 million to the USA.
Following record sales in 2001, Penlon has opened a
new manufacturing site in Abingdon close to its headquarters
and assembly facility. To meet increased demand the
company has increased its manufacturing capacity by
50% in the last two years.
Peter
Tudor, Penlons managing director, is proud of
the contribution made by the workforce towards the companys
success, None of this would have been possible
without the tremendous team spirit that exists at Penlon.
All departments
work cohesively together to bring new products to the
market quickly. The Queens Award is recognition
that Penlon is a world-class company with world-class
products. |
